Ryan S. Camarda is an accomplished producer, director, and advocate for underrepresented communities, with over 15 years of experience in creating impactful and commercially successful independent features, documentaries, and innovative shorts. With a deep passion for storytelling, Ryan has consistently used his platform to amplify marginalized voices and shine a light on significant societal issues.

He has directed and produced projects like Royalty Free: The Music of Kevin MacLeod, which earned critical acclaim and an 89% Rotten Tomatoes rating, and Renegades, a PBS series celebrating historically significant disabled individuals in American history. Ryan’s commitment to inclusivity extends beyond filmmaking; as a member of the Board of Directors for a disability nonprofit, he has played a pivotal role in driving strategic growth and increasing engagement through innovative content.

With expertise in creative storytelling, field production, and mentorship, Ryan continues to inspire and uplift new voices, creating meaningful connections between cultural trends and history through his work.

Projects

Renegades

RENEGADES is a series of five 12-minute short films for American Masters (PBS) showcasing the lives of diverse, lesser-known historical figures with disabilities, exploring not only their impact on and contributions to U.S. society, but also the concept of disability culture, which honors the uniqueness of disability. Hosted and narrated by the musician and disability rights advocate Lachi, who is blind, and created and produced by a team of D/deaf and disabled filmmakers, the series is designed to increase public knowledge of disability history, and encourage cross-cultural understanding between non-disabled people and those with disabilities – who make up 1 in 4 adults in America today.
