The Guidelines are to help Lao media professionals to uphold children’s rights when reporting on news related to children. It also includes guidelines on generating news stories and features,
and a pre-publishing checklist (pre-release warnings) to determine whether the news story aligns with the protection and promotion of children's rights.
The main purpose of the guidelines is to ensure the media professionals report on children responsibly, accurately, and in accordance with the CRC, laws, regulations, principles of protection. It also contributes to the promotion of the rights of the child and the roles of children in the media.
