When filmmaker Jennifer Tiexiera directed the documentary series Unveiled: Surviving La Luz del Mundo, she used a consent calendar: a system she designed to ensure the series’ participants could make decisions around their participation at every stage of the process. This resource examines this consent calendar, why it was effective and meaningful, and how other filmmakers, distributors, and industry might use this model for their projects too. Please note: the consent calendar is not a one-size-fits-all solution, and it should be molded accordingly per project.
